Reading Reflection No.1

1)

  1.  What surprised me the most was how the Wright brothers invented the airplane but only had a high school education. It is very interesting to think about, because they have created a machine that can now be used for mass transportation without any college degree at all!
  2. What I admire most about the Wright brothers was that they were able to use both of their skills to work together, in essence they had great teamwork. Wilbur was extremely smart and Orville was great when it came down to business connecting. In addition they were both risking their lives every time they tested the airplane, but still persevered throughout the whole process.
  3. I definitely feel that I did not find anything distasteful about the Wright brothers. They were very committed after being looked down on, and not even having a college education. And even though, others who failed had a college education this did not even discourage them. So, I would say that nothing stook out to me that changed my good judgement of them.
  4. The entrepreneur did encounter failure in this book. They actually encountered a lot of failures in the creation of their airplane. But, they still persevered and they finally were able to produce it.
  5. 2) The competencies I noticed that the entrepreneur exhibited included perseverance and strategy. I remember from the book that the Wright brothers realized that a lot of people had problems producing a successful airplane because it was hard to create a plane that would adapt to the different turbulence that the plane experienced. Knowing this they were able to preserve, and use their strategic skills to fix this problem. Thus, making an adaptable and working plane.
  6. 3) While reading the biography I did not find too much confusing. However, I did find it a little mind boggling and inspiring how these two brothers who essentially came from ‘nothing’ aka no college education derailed the world and made something that changes everyday society.
  7. 4) If I were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur it would be a)Did you ever think of partnering with people that did have a college education to help you develop a model? b) For both of the brothers I am curious where was their favorite place to travel, when going places?
  8. 5)I believe the entrepreneurs' opinion of hard work was definitely always trying 100% no matter how hard something was or how many failures you have encountered along the way.
